TURKISH COMMUNITIES

I have been a member of TCCA for 6 years. I attended the tea clubs, dance and exercise classes, arts and crafts courses here. I've also been on coach trips. Doing things with friends, learning new things and having conversations on different topics makes me happy.

I love being a member of TCCA for the last five years as it allows us to socialise in a friendly environment. I regularly attend Wednesday's tea club. I have attended coach trips, health-related information sessions, belly dancing exercises, arts and crafts, just to name a few projects. Here, we cease to feel lonely, and we also learn new things.

I was initially referred by a social prescriber, since then I enjoy coming here for the Tea Club every Wednesday. I made good friends, feel supported by staff and my confidence is boosted. After attending the silk cocoon art course at TCCA, 4 of my art pieces were exhibited at two different locations. Being here makes me feel great because I love learning new things."

As a member since 2018, I like coming to the centre as I have made a network of friends, even came across a neighbour here without realising we had been living in the same building. The tea club creates a nice environment for conversation; we can discuss different ideas, share our concerns and problems without any fear or shame. I feel a sense of accomplishment on the days I come to the centre and look forward to going back there.

My whole life has changed, since I walked through this door. I learned computing, using smart phones and iPad, opened Facebook account; can follow all my family & friends. I have seen so many nice places in England with coach trips and tours. We were supported during the Covid-19 pandemic with provision of information, test kits, vaccinations and food supply. I am happier now; thanks to this charity for being part of my life.

I first came here with a friend four years ago to ask for advice on something; I am so glad to have met you. Being at TCCA makes me happy because I can chat with friends there; I live alone so coming here allows me to meet people, it gives me a sense of purpose.

I love going to the TCCA centre because I always have a good time there among friendly people, and it also gives me a reason to get out of the house. They always offer something different for us to enjoy and learn, from the uses of stinging nettle to other culture’s food. All this information is available to me in the comfort of a welcoming place.
